Hello all,

I may have bitten off more than I can chew, but at the risk of straining my mandibles, I am bloody well going to persist.

I am constructing my first web site and I need to put pay buttons onto my pages. I thought I could do this with Mydd but when I clicked on the link in the tutorial page, all I got was this: Internal Server Error. Please contact the server administrator...

The server administrator refered to, is of course, me, and I confess I am no administrator. I fumble around in the dark most of the time, feeling for clues as to where I am.

So now I am wondering if I have everything set up correctly. All else seems to work properly when I'm in the admin area of Mydd, so I am completely baffled by this error message.

Anyway, rather than waste time, I went to paypal to create a button. All went well until I discovered that when I click on the pay button, Paypal opens in the same window. All right... I know it's not the end of the world, but I would prefer it to open in a new window. Any ideas?

Then I realised I might have another problem because of the way I want to do things. Let me explain.

I have things set up so that when a customer has paid, they will be redirected through paypal to a "Thank You" page. On this page I have an email link to my domain in order to gather customer emails that will be catalogued pointers as to exactly what they purchased. In other words each product has a seperate Thank You" page, with an individual email address relating to each one of my products. But have I made a mistake in thinking I can do this? Surely that email link in my "thank you" page has to go directly to Awber. It can't go to my email address as well as informing Aweber to action a reply - can it?

I also say on these pages that as soon as they click on this link they will be sent an email with their product download link. Always assuming I can figure out how to do this with Aweber (when I sign up).

But then, when I go to the Mydd Message Library, to create my Success Message, I see this:

Hello <%FIRST_NAME%> , <%LAST_NAME%> ,
We just received your payment for: <%ABOUT_LOT_NAME%> , for the amount of: <%GROSS_PAYMENT%> <%TXN_CURRENCY%>.

Ebay Item Number:<%ITEM_NUMBER%>

You may download your item from the following url:
<%PRODUCT_LOCATION%>

The important bit is; You may download your item from the following url:
<%PRODUCT_LOCATION%>

Now, I am really confused. I can't put anything there because, if Aweber will be sending a message to the customer with their product download link, then obviously I don't need Mydd sending any messages - DO I?

So then I'm thinking.. Well, if aweber is doing the directing that leads the customer to the product they have paid for... Why do I need Mydd?

By now you have probably noticed that I have gone completely around the bend, tee, hee, hee, dum de dumm, blahh de blahh..

You see? I think I have got one, too many, marbles loose. But also, I think I have got one, too many, hands on deck. If I am selling downloadable material on my web site and Aweber is directing my customer to their purchase - that's it, isn't it? Job done.

So, Mydd is only then necessary for cd products - Mydd being the automated link between my customers and Kunaki.

Where I am darkly confused, is in trying to understand the purpose of Mydd in respect to downloadable items. It doesn't seem relevant, not if you are going to have an Aweber account. After all, I don't want two parties sending messages to my customers. Surely it has to be either Aweber or Mydd.

To add to the confusion, I see that Mydd can be operated in conjunction with Aweber and for the life of me, I can figure out why this would even be necessary.

I'm in an addled state of mind. Can you tell?

I would appreciate any help that might get my thinking into a straight line.

I wish you all the joys of sanity,

Buzbie
